Help with Neoma, and how to help it.

Neoma is free and open source, made independently. Get answers below, or keep it going in the way that suits you.

Licensing

Free, with nothing held back.

Every feature, on every platform, for everyone. There is no paid tier, no trial and no licence key. Money only enters when it keeps Neoma independent.

Everyone

Neoma

Free and open source

For your notes, study and research, on the web, desktop, iPhone and iPad. Self-host the open edition under the AGPL whenever you like.

Open Neoma
Organisations

Commercial

For organisations using Neoma professionally

Teams of two or more using Neoma for revenue-producing work: A$22 per user per month. Institutions such as a faculty or hospital: a site licence from A$4,500 per year.

Read the licence

You do not need a licence if you are

  • an individual, for anything at all
  • a student or academic, for study and research
  • a sole trader, a charity or a non-profit
  • trying Neoma out
  • self-hosting the open-source edition under the AGPL

A commercial licence includes

  • a written confidentiality statement for IT, ethics or security review
  • answers to your security questionnaire
  • written confirmation of licensing for procurement
  • priority support

A licence changes nothing in the app: no key, no locked feature, no check-in with a server. Refundable in full within 30 days.

Backups, restores and reporting a problem

Need help with Neoma for iPhone, iPad, desktop or the web? Email iwan.dominik@outlook.com. You can also report an issue on GitHub.

Most questions are answered in the docs, with a short page for every feature.

Getting started

Choose New vault on a phone, or Create my first vault on desktop. A vault is a collection of notes and attachments stored on your device. Choose a starter or a blank vault, then create a page from Files. Use the … beside a page to rename, move, duplicate, export or delete it.

Back up your notes

Open Files, choose More vault actions (…), then Export vault as ZIP. On iPhone or iPad, wait for Export ready, tap Share or save, then choose Save to Files. Keep a copy outside the app, preferably on another device too.

iPhone and iPad vaults are stored inside Neoma. They are not folders you can browse in Files until you export them. Deleting the app can delete its local notes. In the web app, clearing site data can delete browser vaults. Export before either action. Desktop folder vaults remain ordinary files in the folder you chose.

Restore or move notes

From the welcome screen choose Import vault, then select your exported ZIP. You can also import into an open vault through Files → More vault actions → Import files or ZIP. Import into a new vault when restoring a backup: importing into an existing vault can replace files with the same names. Transfer ZIPs between devices manually; Neoma does not currently provide automatic cloud sync.

Recover a deleted page

Open More → Recently deleted on your phone and restore the page. Permanently deleted vaults cannot be recovered by us. We do not hold a copy of your notes. If content is missing, avoid clearing app data and contact support before reinstalling.

Report a problem

Include your Neoma version, device model, operating-system version, what you expected, what happened, and steps that reproduce it. For export problems, mention whether Export ready and the system share sheet appeared.

Do not send private notes, passwords or confidential attachments. If an example is needed, create a small sample with invented content.
